What is Velocity?
Make the work clear.
Keep the team moving.
Velocity is an online workspace for planning and tracking work. It helps software teams organize tasks, see who is doing what, and keep project notes and conversations together.
Start with one project. Invite your team when you are ready.

Project notes
The plan, useful links, and decisions in one document.
A shared plan for the day-to-day work
A few simple habits help everyone understand what needs doing and where to find the details.
Give every task a clear next step
Write down what needs doing, choose the person responsible, and set a priority or due date. A bug report and a new idea each have a place to go.
See where the work stands
Use a list or a board to see what is planned, in progress, or finished. Update a task as the work moves forward so teammates can follow along.
Keep the explanation with the work
Discuss a task in its comments. Keep plans and decisions in project documents, so people can find the background when they need it.
A simple example
From “we should update the website” to a plan people can follow.
Start with the goal
Create a project called “Website refresh.” Add a document describing what the new site should do and the decisions your team has made.
Break it into tasks
Add the copy, mobile menu, and signup checks as separate tasks. Assign each one to a teammate and decide what to work on first.
Follow it through
Leave feedback in the task’s comments and change its status as work progresses. Your team can see what is finished and what still needs attention.
AI help, when you want it
Artificial intelligence (AI) can help draft a task description or a project document. Review and edit the suggestion before using it, so it reflects what your team actually needs.
AI features and usage limits vary by plan. Compare plans or explore the features.
A few questions you might have
Who is Velocity for?
Velocity is built for people planning and delivering software: developers, designers, project leads, and the teammates who work with them. Individuals can use it to organize their own projects, too.
What does “issue” mean?
An issue is a piece of work, such as a task, bug, or request. It can have a description, a person responsible, a priority, and a status. You will see the word “issue” inside Velocity.
Do I need to use AI?
AI is optional. You can create tasks, organize projects, write documents, and discuss work with your team yourself. When you want help with a draft, AI features are available on eligible plans.
How do I get started?
